All living things in life are growing. When they cease to grow, they are either dead or in the process of dying.
When a person stops their physical growth, they begin the process of their physical death. When a person stops their mental growth, by default, they have begun the process of their mental death. Usually, mental death begins at a much later time than the physical death begins.
Most everyone makes conclusions based upon a summary of all the data that has been input into their brain. If a person is properly using their conclusive functions, they will request their brain to arrive at a new conslusion after each new data input. This is known as OPEN-MINDEDNESS.
Contrary to popular opinion, a person who changes his or her mind, is not necessarily being wishy-washy, but may have only acquired new data and consequently has arrived at a new conclusion. This is NOT to imply that there are not wishy-washy people. Nor does it account for those who are pressured by society, family, job or a thousand other reasons to "go with the flow" or "not make waves."
If you are a well-adjusted person, you have changed your opinions and conclusions uncountable times during your life; because you gained new information or new life experiences, which both qualify as important new data for your brain.
I have written and vocalized opinions and conclusions during my life that I am now ashamed of. The shame comes from conclusions based upon data that I "filtered" in order to "be consistant" in "my beliefs." For me, religion has been the most flagrant reason to filter input data. Politics has been a strong second.
It is my hope that I have grown enough to throw away all the filters in life. If I have been successful, I will likely "change my mind" more frequently than in those days when I filtered data. What I think (or believe) today will not necessarily be what I think (or believe) tomorrow. I pray the same will be true for you.
What I write or suggest herein, may not be what I write or suggest in the future. And what you read in these opinion pages may not be my actual personal belief; but merely a mental cattle-prod to urge you into thinking beyond your normal level.
Originally, I planned to write most everything and then put it up on the Internet. After a year and a half, I concluded it would never get started that way. Thus, I have decided to make a meger start and let it grow from there.
So I suggest you periodically check back to see what is new. You may want to bookmark this page now. For your convenience, at the top of this page will be the date of the last change or addition to the page.
I am writing this and making it available to you, not in effort to convince you to think "my way," but to offer you exposure to concepts and ideas that may be mind-expanding to you. My hope is that you will throw away your "filters" and become OPEN-MINDED. When you gain that goal, you will have everything you need to arrive at a just conclusion at any given moment of your life, regarding most anything with which you are concerned.
